Home & Community Care Ireland are delighted to present our fifth issue of our Home Care Data Series.
Key Findings:
- 25.5m hours of HSE Home Support were delivered to 60,463 older people from a budget of €838m.
- Independent providers delivered 68% of home support hours & were responsible for most of the 7% increase in provision in 2025.
- Despite record investment & provision, waiting lists increased by 4 people to 5,600 at the end of December 2025.
- The Eircode lottery continues with Dublin health regions recording lower waiting lists & higher growth in capacity.
Trends & Analysis:
- Areas with more Independent delivery perform better.
- High waiting lists in rural areas highlights the need for a national mileage scheme for carers.
- Waiting times needs to be tackled.
- Home care is a success story but investment must continue.
- HSE reorganisation leads to transparency issues.
